As the seasons change, so do the beauty trends – and what better time than fall to experiment with some new make-up, hair, and nail styles? So many innovative trends have been popping up on runways and red carpets this season, and you can easily try out many of them at home. Here are a few fun ideas to get you started.
Bright Shimmery Eyes
Glitter is back, and it’s not just for teens. The latest runway look for eyes is a bright pop of color that shimmers and shines. Any color will work, so long as it’s bold. You can go for a more subtle shimmer effect or some full-on glitter – either way, your eyes will be sure to catch the light.
The classic red lip is still here, and it probably always will be. This year, you have two ways to wear it. One option is to go for a super bright lip and keep the rest of your make-up neutral, so your lips really stand out. Or, you can follow this season’s monochrome trend, and match your eye shadow to your lipstick (if you dare!).
It might be the opposite of the other bolder styles we’re seeing this year, but the dewy, bare-faced look is just as trendy. Really, does glowing skin ever go out of style? Treat yourself to a facial (or DIY one at home), and then go super easy on the make-up. Other tips for glowing skin? Use a good moisturizer, get enough sleep, stay hydrated, and don’t forget to exfoliate.
The braid has been around forever, but as a fashion statement, it goes in and out. Well, this season, it’s in, whether you’re in the office, at the gym, or out on the town. Go with two braids or one long braid straight down the back. Or for an asymmetrical look, try a deep side part with a braid that naturally falls over one shoulder.
Glittery Hair Accessories
We weren’t kidding when we said glitter was making a comeback, and it’s not only for your eye make-up this time. Sparkling, shimmering, shiny hair accessories will also add a pop to any look. Try a headband, a couple clips, or a bunch of hairpins (and don’t be afraid to go a little crazy with the accessories this year).
Pearls are timeless, but this season isn’t about your grandma’s simple strand. Pearls are now showing up in hair and even on nails. A pearl hair clip is right on trend, or glue individual pearls onto painted nails for a unique straight-from-the-runways look.
Animal prints are also back, and this time, they’re showing up on nails, too. Tortoise-shell, leopard-print, or spots will all give you a stand-out manicure. Ask about it next time you’re at the salon, or just buy some press-on nails to do it yourself.
If you’re looking for a fresh new look that’s a little more understated, give curtain-shaped tips a try. They’ll give a classic French manicure a new twist, or you can use two different colors. For the best effect, use the bolder shade for the tip.
Whatever trends you decide to try this season, don’t be afraid to be bold – let yourself be seen!
